You might not be a prude when it comes to having sex. You moved to the experienced category when you could no longer count your lovers on your fingers and toes. Or, maybe you hang onto your virginity tighter than a toddler hugs a security blanket. Your virginity is a sign that you are one of the “good girls.” You use your virginity to ward off sexual advances by saying, “I will only have sex after I am married.” (This can go for men, too.)
If you are re-entering the dating world after divorce and in the past you warded off sexual advances by holding up the virginity shield, you might have to change your strategy. If you are re-entering the dating world as a divorcee and mother of three children, rebuffing sex by claiming you are a virgin is a thing of the past. You aren’t going to fool anyone.
Most people we speak with about sex say that they should not have slept with most of their lovers. Half of them weren’t that good in bed. And those who pressured them into having sex dropped off their radar screen shortly after their romp between the sheets.
We get asked advice about sex all the time, mostly from women who feel the pressure to have sex with men so they’ll stick around. Sorry girls, that doesn’t work. We’ve seen it in action. If a man is going to stick around, it is because he is really into you as a person.
